We had such a great experience visiting the Mod Olive - from the welcome at the door, the service, the food, and the atmosphere. Loved the music and the vibe.
We got the Southern Bowl (w/ the chicken & scrambled eggs) and the Meatzilla Omelet.
Both were good - only changes we would have made is to add cheddar to the omelet (a little cheesier 😊) and a little more sausage gravy on the bowl (not that it wasn't sufficient, it was just GOOD 😁). The coffee was fresh and good.
The service is always what makes the experience best for us and they did not disappoint - We felt well cared for with Deveonna!

The food was delicious, I will deserve portions , and hot. I am not a big fan of chicken and waffles but had the Chicken and Waffles stack and it was tasty- it came inside and 2 eggs. I had the home fries with the scrambled eggs😋😋. My husband had the meatzilla he ordered with biscuit and waffle fries.
So if you are looking to do a small brunch with friends,date brunch , or business meeting. This place is nice and quiet. We came all the way from Richmond to this restaurant to have a business meeting.

We went to Suffolk for a ribbon cutting event For Kids Community Pantry and Fridge. I asked my counterpart Vivi for a good place to eat here and she highly recommended The MOD Olive. We went and it was the best brunch we had in a long while. They have so much good choices that we had a hard time deciding which one to pick. All of us were happy and content with our orders even the picky eater. We enjoyed each others company, the ambience and the food we don’t want to go back to work hahaha.
We are definitely going back!

We walk in and it takes a second for us to get seated which is fine. The hostess happened to also be our server and she was very nice and professional. Sat us down and immediately took our drink orders. We just get waters then take a look at the menu. Y'all, good lord. The amount of items on the menu is insane. HUGE red flag. That immediately told me nothing they make is homemade. Not possible with all that on the menu. With that said I ordered the Mac and Cheese Balls and Chicken Pot Pie with a side of waffle fries, my wife ordered the Chicken Parmesan with a side Caesar Salad. I remember saying something about wondering if the Mac and Cheese Balls being bite-sized and the waitress said "oh no they're quite large, but still good". The bit about the size is an understatement. They were hilariously large. Huge even. I took a picture of them next to my hand, I'm not a small person. Unfortunately they were stone cold in the center. This tells me they were frozen, breaded and thrown in the fryer. Obviously they wouldn't get to temp before they burn due to their size. I send it back. My wife's salad came around the same time and it's just 2 pieces of whole romaine stalks lazily thrown onto a plate with some Caesar dressing and cheese. She said it was ok. Our entrees come and, yea....the portion sizes are insane. Our 2 entrees could feed 4 people easily. We unfortunately discovered they go for quantity, not quality. My wife's chicken parm was overcooked so the breading just fell right off and was mush. She said the pasta was ok though. My pot pie however was disgusting. They basically just put random veggies with a flavorless gelatinous soup in a bowl and throw some precooked puff pasty on top. It was bizarre, I've never seen a pot pie disrespected like that before. And I say random because it was filled with corn, peas, carrots and long green beans. Your typical pot pie is just peas and carrots. I understand everyone does it differently, which would've fine if it tasted good. But it was just warm snot with veggies and some bread on top. I sent it back. The waffle fries were fine, kinda hard to mess those up though. Remember when I mentioned in the beginning the size of the menu and that nothing would be homemade? That was confirmed with 2 things. One, I heard from the kitchen and I quote "hey (name missing), can you open up a can of marinara? ". Second every 5 ish minutes I would hear the distinct sounds of a microwave opening and closing with the *beep beep beep* to follow. Lastly, they have a decorative fish tank ON THE BAR. Honestly to me, that's nasty. If they were eating fish like at a sushi place that's understandable, but they were pets. We will not be returning.

This place was very unique. The lighting was the biggest downside for me. I really couldn't see what I was eating. The photos will show. I had the Missile Crisis, which was very unique. I think it would have done better without the pulled pork. The texture was very different. The sauce was and the dell pickle made it though. The fries were really good. But the portion size was way too much. I had the second half of the sandwich for dinner. My wife had the cold plate. She said the tuna salad wasn't that great and had to be doctor led up when she got home. The pasta and pear salad were good.
I don't think we will come back though, it just seemed very odd and really didn't know what to expect with each dish. Maybe I will try the brunch if I come back.

Not only was the atmosphere amazing but so was the food for the price. The young lady that waited served us was so charming, an outstanding. The food met more than exceeded my expectations. Could not believe how much they gave me an I ordered soft scrambled eggs with bacon hash brown casserole and toasted sourdough bread. An they were not skimpy on the bacon or the rest of my meal for the price. My guest friend ordered the sausage gravy biscuits and I tasted a bite an the sincere love I felt just melted my heart. Most places I go to when you order gravy and biscuits all you can taste is flour. The gravy and biscuits at the MOD Olive not only covered a full plate but the sausage gravy covered the biscuits where you could hardly even see the biscuits, it was just so much then we expected. My guest was very impressed as I was. If I ever return to Suffolk, Virginia, I will definitely be visiting this restaurant time and time again an it will be my only stop for eating out in Suffolk, Virginia. Sincere thanks ...!

This used to be my go to place. Service was top notch which made up for the mediocre food quality. The food used to also be top notch but everything has gone down hill since Covid. The servers don’t have clue about the menu, there is ONE great server left and she too has acknowledged the backside of this establishment, the bartender is … Momma said don’t say anything if you haven’t anything nice to say 🤣 They don’t even bother to remove seasonal decor anymore whereas they used to decorate for every holiday. The toilet in the ladies room has been broken and barely functional for over a year. I’m very sad that this place has gone down so much, so quickly. God forbid you politely tell them that something wasn’t up to par (even without asking them to take it back) my 14 year old daughter had the pleasure of listening to the entire staff crap talking the only two tables that were there patronizing this dump.
